John P. Kee

John P. Kee is an American gospel singer, songwriter, and choir director from North Carolina, often called the Prince of Gospel Music. He rose to prominence in the 1980s and 1990s by founding the New Life Community Choir, blending traditional black church worship with contemporary urban influences drawn from funk, R&B, and hip-hop rhythms. His style is marked by call-and-response vocals, spoken pastoral witnessing woven into the songs, and dense choral arrangements that bridge the gap between sanctified praise music and mainstream urban gospel.

Before fully committing to gospel, Kee spent time in the secular music industry, contributing to recordings with R&B acts, and battled personal struggles including substance abuse before rededicating his life and career to ministry and music.
