Jack Ü

Jack Ü is the electronic music duo formed by Sonny Moore, known as Skrillex, and Thomas Wesley Pentz, known as Diplo. Both artists had already built major solo careers in dance music before joining forces, and their collaboration blended Skrillex's aggressive, bass-heavy dubstep and trap sensibilities with Diplo's global, dancehall- and Jersey club-influenced production style. The project coalesced around 2013 after the two had performed together live for some time.

The duo released their debut single «Take Ü There» featuring Kiesza in 2014, followed by a Missy Elliott remix, before releasing their only studio album, «Skrillex and Diplo Present Jack Ü», in early 2015. The album mixed EDM, trap, moombahton, and pop into an eclectic, genre-blending sound that was distinct from either producer's solo work. Its most celebrated moment came with «Where Are Ü Now», a collaboration with Justin Bieber that became a massive crossover hit and won Grammy Awards for Best Dance Recording and Best Dance/Electronic Album.

Beyond the album, Jack Ü became known for elaborate, genre-spanning festival sets and a playful, collaborative approach that brought together vocalists and producers from wildly different scenes. While the project has been largely inactive since the mid-2010s, it remains a landmark collaboration in dance music, showing how two distinct producer identities could merge into something new without either losing their own voice.
