About the artist
Iyaz, born Keidran Jones in 1987 in the British Virgin Islands, is a singer-songwriter who rose to global fame in 2009 with the Caribbean-flavored pop-R&B single «Replay», produced by J.R. Rotem for Beluga Heights Records. Discovered on MySpace by Sean Kingston and later connected with Rotem through Michael Nguyen, Iyaz quickly went from local island success with «Island Girls» to international chart domination, with «Replay» reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and topping the UK Singles Chart.
His music blends reggae- and dancehall-influenced rhythms with mainstream pop and R&B songwriting, a sound showcased on his debut album Replay, released in 2010. Follow-up singles such as «Solo» and «So Big» continued to build on his breezy, melodic style, while «Pretty Girls» and «OK» further expanded his catalogue of upbeat, hook-driven tracks aimed at pop radio.
As part of the Beluga Heights roster alongside artists like Sean Kingston and Jason Derulo, Iyaz became associated with a wave of island-pop crossover hits in the late 2000s and early 2010s. Remixes of «Replay» and continued collaborations helped extend the song's popularity well beyond its initial release, cementing his place as one of the defining voices of that era's tropical-pop sound.
