Frank Ocean

Frank Ocean, born Christopher Breaux, is an American singer, songwriter and producer from New Orleans who relocated to Los Angeles and began his career ghostwriting for other artists before joining the collective Odd Future. His 2011 mixtape Nostalgia, Ultra introduced his blend of soulful, understated singing with narrative, often melancholic songwriting, quickly earning critical attention outside the usual R&B mainstream.

His 2012 debut album channel ORANGE, released alongside a candid personal essay, was widely acclaimed for its ambitious, genre-blurring production and confessional storytelling, and won a Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album. Songs like «Thinkin Bout You» and «Pyramids» showcased his ability to stretch song structures and blend R&B, soul and psychedelic textures into something distinctly his own.

After a lengthy gap, Ocean returned in 2016 with the visual album Endless and the album Blonde, released independently and marked by hazy, minimalist production, pitched vocals and stream-of-consciousness lyrics. Tracks such as «Nights» and «White Ferrari» cemented his status as one of the most influential and closely watched artists of his generation, known for rarely touring or granting interviews yet shaping a generation of R&B and alternative pop artists through his sound and aesthetic.
