Floetry

Floetry is an English R&B duo formed in 1997 by Marsha Ambrosius, known as «The Songstress», and Natalie Stewart, known as «The Floacist». Blending spoken-word poetry with soulful singing, the pair pioneered a hybrid style that helped define the neo-soul and spoken-word R&B sound of the early 2000s, positioning them alongside artists like Jill Scott in a wave of poetically inclined R&B acts.

Their 2002 debut album «Floetic» established their reputation, spawning singles such as «Say Yes», «Getting Late» and the title track «Floetic», which showcased Ambrosius's smooth, emotive vocals interwoven with Stewart's rhythmic spoken verses. Beyond their own releases, the duo built significant credibility as songwriters, penning material for major artists including Michael Jackson and Jill Scott, which cemented their standing within the neo-soul songwriting community.

Floetry also captured their dynamic chemistry on the live album «Floacism», recorded at the House of Blues, before disbanding in 2006. The duo reunited nearly a decade later, in 2015, for a tour that reintroduced their distinctive fusion of poetry and song to audiences who had grown up with their early-2000s hits.
