About the artist
Eryn Allen Kane is a singer-songwriter born Eryn Allen Koehn, raised in Detroit, Michigan, who relocated to Chicago for college and remained there to build her music career. Her soulful, minimalist sound — often built around piano, spare arrangements, and a powerful, textured voice — caught the attention of Prince after she released her debut single «Hollow» in 2013, leading to a mentorship that shaped much of her early trajectory.
2015 marked her breakthrough year: she appeared on Towkio's «Heaven Only Knows», was featured extensively on Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment's acclaimed album Surf, and collaborated with Prince on the protest song «Baltimore». That same period saw the release of her own debut EP, Aviary: Act 1, which showcased her emotionally direct songwriting and R&B-rooted sensibility.
She followed up with Aviary Act II in early 2016, continuing the two-part project's exploration of vulnerability and self-discovery. Rooted in Chicago's tight-knit alternative R&B and hip-hop scene, Kane has remained known for her intimate, piano-driven songs like «Piano Song» and «Have Mercy», balancing mainstream visibility from her high-profile collaborations with a distinctly independent artistic voice.
