About the artist
Ekali, the alias of Nathan Shaw, is a Canadian electronic music producer from Vancouver, British Columbia. He emerged from the city's Chapel Sound collective and later became associated with the global Flow-Fi network, building a sound that blends trap, future bass, and moody, melodic electronic textures.
Ekali gained wider recognition through releases on Skrillex's OWSLA label, including the Space Cadet EP, and through collaborations that bridge electronic music with hip-hop and R&B vocalists. His single «Babylon», featuring Denzel Curry, became one of his signature tracks and was later remixed by Skrillex and Ronny J. He has also been credited as a songwriter on Drake's mixtape "If You're Reading This It's Too Late", reflecting his connections beyond the strictly electronic scene.
Known for atmospheric production and a willingness to move between hard-hitting trap-influenced beats and more introspective, emotionally driven material, Ekali built a dedicated fanbase through independent releases, SoundCloud uploads, and a strong live show presence, becoming one of the notable names to emerge from Vancouver's electronic music scene in the 2010s.
