About the artist
DJ Fresh, born Dan Stein, is a British record producer and DJ who emerged from the drum and bass scene in the late 1990s before becoming one of the UK's most successful crossover dance producers. He first made his name within the jungle and drum and bass underground, co-founding the label Breakbeat Kaos, and built a reputation for high-energy productions that pushed the genre toward a bigger, more festival-ready sound.
In the early 2010s DJ Fresh broke into the mainstream with a run of UK top 10 singles that blended drum and bass energy with pop songwriting and dubstep-influenced bass. Tracks such as «Gold Dust», «Hot Right Now» (featuring Rita Ora), and «Louder» brought him to number one on the UK charts and introduced drum and bass sensibilities to a much wider pop audience, a rare feat for an artist rooted in underground bass music.
His sound is defined by huge, anthemic drops, punchy rhythms, and a knack for pairing club-ready production with radio-friendly vocal hooks, and remix culture became part of his catalogue's identity, notably through the Flux Pavilion remix of «Gold Dust». Beyond his own singles, DJ Fresh has worked with vocalists and producers across pop, dance, and bass music, cementing his role as a bridge between the UK's underground rave heritage and its commercial dance-pop mainstream.
