Daniel Caesar

Daniel Caesar, born Ashton Simmonds in Toronto, is a Canadian R&B and soul singer-songwriter whose music blends gospel-rooted harmonies with warm, guitar-driven production. He emerged with early independent projects, including Praise Break and Pilgrim's Paradise, which drew critical attention for their emotionally raw, church-influenced take on contemporary R&B before he broke through more widely.

His 2017 debut studio album, Freudian, cemented his reputation, built around the duet «Best Part» with H.E.R. and the hit «Get You» featuring Kali Uchis, and earned a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album. The record's introspective songwriting about love, faith, and loss, paired with lush harmonized vocals and minimal, soulful arrangements, became a defining sound for a new wave of gospel-inflected R&B.

Caesar has continued to collaborate widely across R&B, pop, and hip-hop, working with artists spanning multiple genres while retaining his signature sound: tender falsetto, layered background vocals, and songs that feel like intimate confessions.
