Corbin

Corbin is an American singer born in Baltimore, Maryland and based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He first emerged online in 2014 under the alias Spooky Black, drawing widespread attention with the hazy, lo-fi ballad «Without U» and its accompanying YouTube video, which spread rapidly through internet music communities and helped define a nascent aesthetic often labeled cloud rap or «sad boy» R&B.

He was also a member of Thestand4rd, a hip-hop and R&B collective that shared a similarly murky, atmospheric sound. In 2015 he retired the Spooky Black name and began recording as Corbin, signaling a shift toward a more personal, singer-songwriter approach while retaining the smoky, minimalist production that had defined his earlier work.

Under this new name he released his debut album Mourn in 2017, further establishing a sound that blends R&B, indie and lo-fi textures with introspective, often melancholic songwriting. Corbin's music is marked by hushed vocals, sparse arrangements and an unhurried, moody atmosphere that helped shape a generation of internet-native R&B artists.
