Celeste

Celeste Epiphany Waite, known simply as Celeste, is an English singer-songwriter born in Culver City, California, who moved to England as a young child and grew up around Brighton. Raised partly in the Dagenham area before settling on the south coast, she began writing songs as a teenager and was discovered online by a manager who encouraged her to pursue formal training while finishing school, laying the groundwork for a career built on a deep, jazz- and soul-inflected voice.

She signed to Lily Allen's label early in her career and gained wider attention through BBC Radio 1 support, releasing her debut EP The Milk & The Honey in 2017 before later moving to Polydor Records. Singles such as «Strange» and the Lately EP established her as a distinctive new voice in British soul-pop, and her rise culminated in international recognition including an Academy Award nomination, cementing her as one of the most striking vocal talents to emerge from the UK in recent years.

Celeste's sound draws on classic soul, jazz phrasing and cinematic pop, often built around sparse, atmospheric arrangements that give space to her expressive, smoky delivery.
