CeeLo Green

CeeLo Green, born Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, is an American singer, rapper and songwriter from Atlanta, Georgia. He first rose to prominence in the 1990s as a founding member of Goodie Mob, one of the groups that helped define Southern hip-hop and the Dungeon Family collective, blending gospel-rooted vocals with gritty, socially conscious rap. His booming, soulful voice quickly set him apart from his peers and pointed toward a career built as much on singing as on rapping.

In the 2000s CeeLo built a substantial solo catalog before teaming with producer Danger Mouse to form Gnarls Barkley, whose 2006 single «Crazy» became a global crossover hit and one of the defining songs of its era. He followed that success with his own solo album The Lady Killer, anchored by the massive hit «Fuck You» (released in a radio-friendly version as «Forget You»), which showcased his knack for retro soul and pop hooks delivered with theatrical flair.

Throughout his career CeeLo has moved fluidly between hip-hop, R&B, soul and pop, collaborating with artists ranging from Lauryn Hill and TLC to Bruno Mars and Melanie Fiona. His music is marked by warm, vintage-soul production, unmistakable vocal charisma and a willingness to blend genres freely, making him one of the more idiosyncratic and influential voices to emerge from the Atlanta music scene.
