Brent Faiyaz

Brent Faiyaz, born Christopher Brent Wood on September 19, 1995, is an American R&B singer-songwriter and producer based in Baltimore/Maryland. He emerged independently, uploading early material to SoundCloud, and gained wider attention with his 2016 EP A.M. Paradox, which caught the ear of GoldLink. His feature on GoldLink's «Crew» alongside Shy Glizzy became a breakout hit, introducing Faiyaz to a much larger audience.

His 2017 debut album Sonder Son established his signature style: hazy, minor-key production paired with intimate, often melancholic songwriting about relationships, fame, and self-destruction. He has continued to build a reputation as one of alternative R&B's most consistent voices, known for a moody, understated delivery that favors atmosphere over bombast.

Faiyaz has built a career largely outside the traditional major-label system, cultivating a devoted fanbase through steady independent releases and guest features.
