Blaque

Blaque was an American R&B girl trio active from 1996 to 2009, formed by Natina Reed, with Shamari Fears and Brandi Williams joining shortly after. The group was discovered and signed by Lisa «Left Eye» Lopes of TLC to her production company, Left Eye Productions, which secured them a deal with Columbia Records. Their name stood for «Believing in Life and Achieving a Quest for Unity in Everything.»

Their self-titled 1999 debut album became a major commercial success, selling over 1.5 million copies and going platinum, powered by singles like «808», «Bring It All To Me» and «I Do.» The group's sound fit squarely within the late-90s R&B and pop landscape, characterized by tight vocal harmonies, radio-ready hooks and crisp, TLC-adjacent production.

Blaque remained active into the 2000s, releasing further material and building a following alongside contemporaries in the girl-group R&B wave. The trio's connection to Left Eye Lopes gave them a direct lineage to TLC's sound and business orbit, and songs such as «Questions» and «She Ain't Got That Boom» reflect their blend of vocal-driven R&B with hip-hop-inflected rhythm.
