About the artist
Big K.R.I.T., born Justin Scott in Meridian, Mississippi, is an American rapper and self-producing beatmaker whose stage name stands for King Remembered In Time. He built his reputation independently through a run of mixtapes in the 2000s, all self-produced, before breaking through with 2010's «K.R.I.T. Wuz Here», whose single «Country Shit» was remixed by Ludacris and Bun B. That momentum led to a Def Jam deal and a spot on the XXL Freshman list in 2011.
K.R.I.T. is known for grounding his music in Southern hip-hop tradition, drawing on soulful samples, heavy bass and live instrumentation reminiscent of UGK and other Dirty South forebears, while pairing it with introspective, often spiritually and socially conscious lyrics. His debut studio album, «Live from the Underground» (2012), topped the Billboard Rap chart and showcased both his production range and rap ability.
Over a prolific catalog including mixtapes and albums like «Cadillactica», he has remained one of the most respected producer-rappers of his generation, often praised for authenticity and craftsmanship in an era dominated by outside production. Tracks such as «Mt. Olympus», «Big Bank» and «Boobie Miles» reflect his range from booming anthems to reflective storytelling.
