B.I

B.I, born Kim Han-bin on October 22, 1996, is a South Korean rapper, singer-songwriter and producer who first became known as the leader of the boy band iKON under YG Entertainment. He rose to prominence through the survival shows WIN: Who Is Next and Mix & Match, and further sharpened his reputation as a rapper through an appearance on Show Me The Money. As iKON's main songwriter, he co-wrote and co-produced much of the group's material, including their debut album Welcome Back, and contributed to songs by other YG acts such as WINNER and Epik High.

After departing iKON in 2019, B.I rebuilt his career as a solo artist, founding his own label ventures and eventually returning to music with the 2021 single album Midnight Blue. His solo work leans into moody, introspective hip-hop and R&B, foregrounding his songwriting and melodic rap delivery over flashier trap conventions, with tracks like «Got It Like That» and «Lost At Sea (Illa Illa 2)» showcasing his range.

B.I is widely respected in the Korean hip-hop scene for combining commercial idol-rap success with genuine credibility as a writer and producer, a rare crossover that shaped his post-iKON reinvention.
