Basshunter

Basshunter, the stage name of Jonas Erik Altberg, is a Swedish DJ, producer, and singer born in Halmstad, Sweden. He rose from grassroots internet fame in the mid-2000s, initially sharing his eurodance-inspired tracks for free through gaming forums and chat channels, to becoming one of the defining voices of the Scandinavian dance-pop scene of that era.

His breakthrough came with «Boten Anna» in 2006, a track built around a chatbot-inspired premise that spread rapidly online before its official release, topping the Swedish singles chart and going platinum in both Sweden and Denmark. He followed this with «Now You're Gone», released in 2007 featuring DJ Mental Theo's Bazzheadz, which reached number one in the UK, achieved platinum certification, and became one of the most-viewed music videos of its time.

Basshunter's sound blends high-energy eurodance and electro-house production with catchy, radio-ready pop hooks, often built around simple, memorable melodies. His success earned him recognition including a World Music Award for Sweden's best-selling artist and an Eska Music Award, cementing his place as a key figure in the late-2000s European dance-pop wave.
