Myron Avant, known professionally as Avant, is an American R&B singer and songwriter who rose to prominence in the late 1990s as part of a wave of male vocalists blending traditional soul with contemporary hip-hop-inflected production. His warm, emotive tenor and focus on romantic, often vulnerable songwriting became his signature, earning him a loyal following within the R&B community even as he stayed largely outside mainstream pop crossover.

Avant built his reputation on a run of enduring singles, including «Separated», whose remix featured Kelly Rowland, and «My First Love», one version of which featured KeKe Wyatt — a pairing so popular it helped define the sound of early-2000s R&B duets. «Read Your Mind» further cemented his ability to craft intimate, radio-friendly ballads, with a remix featuring Snoop Dogg released on an extended promo vinyl. His catalog is marked by themes of love, heartbreak, and devotion delivered with understated vocal control rather than showy runs.

Beyond his own albums, Avant has collaborated across hip-hop and R&B, notably appearing on the remix of Lloyd Banks's «Karma» from The Hunger for More in 2004, and made a cameo in the film Barbershop 2: Back in Business the same year.
