August Alsina is an American R&B singer and rapper from New Orleans, Louisiana. He emerged in the early 2010s with a raw, street-inflected take on R&B, blending soulful vocals with a rap sensibility shaped by his hometown’s hip-hop scene. His breakthrough came with the single «I Luv This Shit», featuring Trinidad James, which announced his arrival as a distinctive new voice in the genre.

His debut album «Testimony» (2014) cemented his reputation, drawing on his difficult upbringing to craft emotionally direct songs about struggle, love, and survival.
