About the artist
Atoms for Peace is a supergroup formed in 2009 originally to perform live material from Thom Yorke's debut solo album, «The Eraser». The lineup brought together Yorke (frontman of Radiohead), his longtime producer and collaborator Nigel Godrich, Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, drummer Joey Waronker (known for his work with Beck and R.E.M.), and percussionist Mauro Refosco, a frequent Red Hot Chili Peppers collaborator who has also worked with Brian Eno and David Byrne.
What began as a touring project evolved into a full band, and in 2013 Atoms for Peace released their debut studio album, «Amok». The record fused Yorke's electronic and glitch-inflected songwriting with the interlocking, rhythm-heavy grooves the musicians developed on stage, resulting in a sound built on dense polyrhythms, warped basslines and layered electronic textures rather than conventional rock arrangements.
Tracks such as «Ingenue», «Default», «Before Your Very Eyes...» and «Stuck Together Pieces» reflect this hybrid approach, sitting at the intersection of electronic, rock and pop sensibilities. While the band has remained largely dormant since «Amok», its lineup and sound made it one of the more notable Radiohead-adjacent side projects of its era, bridging Yorke's solo electronic explorations and the musicianship of his Chili Peppers-affiliated collaborators.
