Ari Lennox, born Courtney Shanade Salter on March 26, 1991, in Washington, D.C., is an American R&B singer and songwriter known for her warm, conversational vocal style that blends classic soul influences with modern hip hop sensibilities. She rose to prominence as the first woman signed to J. Cole’s Dreamville Records, building her reputation through mixtapes like «Five Finger Discount» and «Ariography» before joining the label’s roster.

Her 2016 EP «PHO» introduced her Dreamville sound to a wider audience, and she contributed to the label’s compilation «Revenge of the Dreamers II» alongside labelmates such as Cozz.
