Archy Marshall

Archy Marshall is an English musician from South London, best known under his primary alias King Krule, though he has also released music as Zoo Kid and DJ JD Sports, and under his own name. He first drew attention as a teenager with a distinctive, world-weary baritone voice that contrasted sharply with his young age, paired with jazz-inflected guitar work, dub and post-punk influences, and lo-fi production.

As Archy Marshall, he released the 2015 mixtape «A New Place 2 Drown», a hazier, more experimental and hip-hop-adjacent detour from his King Krule work, accompanied by a book and film project of the same name created with his brother Jack Marshall. The music leans into murky, atmospheric production, blending elements of trip hop, ambient electronic textures and fragmented songwriting.

Marshall's broader body of work, especially as King Krule on albums like «6 Feet Beneath the Moon» and «The Ooz», has made him one of the more idiosyncratic voices to emerge from the South London music scene, admired for fusing jazz, punk and electronic elements into a singular, melancholic sound.
