About the artist
Ameriie, born Amerie Mi Marie Rogers on January 12, 1980, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, to an African-American father and a Korean mother, is an American R&B singer known for blending soul vocals with sharp, percussion-driven production. She built an early interest in music through her mother's classical piano background and began performing in talent shows as a child.
Her 2002 debut album «All I Have» introduced hits like «Why Don't We Fall in Love», but it was her second album, «Touch» (2005), that made her a mainstream force, propelled by the Rich Harrison-produced single «1 Thing», a Hot 100 top-ten hit whose thundering drum breaks became one of the decade's signature R&B production styles. Songs such as «Talkin' to Me» and «Pretty Brown» further showcased her rhythmic, dance-inflected approach to R&B.
While later albums like «Because I Love It» and «In Love & War» had a harder time commercially in the US, Ameriie remained a respected figure for her genre-blurring, uptempo take on R&B and her influence on 2000s club and radio sound.
