Alina Baraz

Alina Baraz is an American R&B singer-songwriter from Cleveland, Ohio, born to Russian parents on September 24, 1993. Raised on classical music but drawn to powerhouse vocalists like Adele and Amy Winehouse, she moved to California as a teenager to pursue singing after years in choirs. Her breakthrough came through collaborations with electronic producers, most notably the Belgian producer Galimatias, with whom she released the acclaimed 2015 EP Urban Flora, a project that established her hushed, sensual vocal style over downtempo electronic production.

After signing with the independent label Mom+Pop, Baraz released her widely known single «Electric» featuring Khalid in 2017, further cementing her place in the alternative R&B scene alongside artists exploring atmospheric, bedroom-intimate production. She followed with singles like «Lavender and Velvet» ahead of her debut solo EP, The Color of You, released in 2018, which expanded her sound while keeping her signature breathy, intimate delivery.
