A.CHAL

A.CHAL, born Alejandro Salazar and also known as Alejandro Chal, is a Peruvian-born singer, songwriter and producer who spent his early years moving between Peru and New York before settling in Los Angeles to pursue music. His sound occupies a hazy middle ground between hip-hop, R&B, chillwave and pop, often shifting between English and Spanish within the same verse to reflect his bicultural upbringing.

After an early EP, Ballroom Riots, that he later distanced himself from as a mostly production-driven project made before he fully found his voice as a vocalist, A.CHAL reinvented his artistic identity around spiritual and cosmic themes. The single «Round Whippin'» marked this turning point, premiering on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 show and leading into his full-length debut, Welcome to GAZI, released in 2016.

Songs like «Love N Hennessy», «To the Light» and «Matrix» further defined his atmospheric, genre-blurring style, built around murmured vocals, minimal trap-influenced percussion and dreamy production. A.CHAL's work stands out for its introspective lyrics about struggle, desire and identity, delivered with a laid-back, almost whispered intimacy that sets him apart from more conventional R&B and rap contemporaries.
