About the artist
112 is an R&B vocal quartet from Atlanta, Georgia, made up of Marvin «Slim» Scandrick, Quinnes «Q» Parker, Daron Jones and Michael Keith. Signed to Sean «Puffy» Combs’s Bad Boy Entertainment in the mid-1990s, the group became one of the label’s signature vocal acts alongside the roster of hip-hop artists that defined Bad Boy’s sound. Their self-titled 1996 debut album introduced their smooth, harmony-driven style and produced the hits «Cupid» and «Only You», the latter remixed with verses from The Notorious B.I.G. and Ma$e.
The group’s biggest commercial and cultural moment came in 1997, when they joined Diddy and Faith Evans on «I’ll Be Missing You», the tribute record built around The Police’s «Every Breath You Take» that became a chart-topping hit and won a Grammy Award. Through the late 1990s and early 2000s 112 released a run of successful albums, including Room 112 and Part III, scoring hits such as «Peaches & Cream», «Anywhere» and «Dance With Me» that showcased their tight vocal blend and romantic, radio-friendly songwriting.
After moving to Def Soul for further releases, the group members pursued solo careers before periodically reuniting. 112 remains remembered as one of the defining vocal groups of the Bad Boy era, admired for smooth harmonies and a string of R&B classics that helped define late-1990s soul and hip-hop crossover music.
