Sobre o artista
Queens of the Stone Age se formou na Califórnia em 1996, fundada por Josh Homme após o fim de sua banda anterior, Kyuss, e se tornou uma força definidora do desert rock, uma vertente mais pesada e baseada em riffs do stoner rock nascida na cena desértica da Califórnia. Desde o início, a banda se distinguiu por grooves hipnóticos e repetitivos, guitarras com timbre fuzz denso e um talento melódico que a separava de atos de stoner metal mais diretos.
A formação da banda mudou continuamente ao longo das décadas, com Homme como a única constante, e em diversos momentos incluiu colaboradores de destaque como Dave Grohl e Mark Lanegan, cuja presença ajudou a moldar alguns dos discos mais aclamados da banda. Faixas como «No One Knows» e «Go with the Flow» trouxeram à banda sucesso nas rádios de rock mainstream sem perder o traço que a mantinha respeitada nos círculos underground mais pesados.
Em álbuns como «Lullabies to Paralyze», «…Like Clockwork» e «Villains», Queens of the Stone Age remodelou continuamente seu som, transitando entre atmosferas escuras e sensuais, peso emocional catártico e rock robótico com influências dançantes, sem perder o DNA essencial do desert rock. Seu oitavo álbum de estúdio, «In Times New Roman…», lançado em 2023, estendeu a direção sonora dos dois discos anteriores, reafirmando a reputação da banda por sua incansável reinvenção dentro de uma identidade reconhecível.
