Sobre el artista
Queens of the Stone Age se formó en California en 1996, fundada por Josh Homme tras la disolución de su banda anterior, Kyuss, y se convirtió en una fuerza definitoria del desert rock, una vertiente más pesada y basada en riffs del stoner rock nacida en la escena desértica de California. Desde el principio, la banda se distinguió por grooves hipnóticos y repetitivos, guitarras con un tono fuzz denso y un talento melódico que la separaba de actos de stoner metal más directos.
La alineación de la banda ha cambiado continuamente a lo largo de las décadas, con Homme como única constante, y en distintos momentos ha incluido colaboradores de alto perfil como Dave Grohl y Mark Lanegan, cuya presencia ayudó a definir algunos de los discos más aclamados de la banda. Canciones como «No One Knows» y «Go with the Flow» le dieron éxito en la radio rock mainstream sin perder el filo que la mantenía creíble dentro de los círculos underground más pesados.
A través de álbumes como «Lullabies to Paralyze», «…Like Clockwork» y «Villains», Queens of the Stone Age ha reconfigurado continuamente su sonido, moviéndose entre atmósferas oscuras y sensuales, un peso emocional catártico y un rock robótico con tintes bailables, sin perder el ADN esencial del desert rock. Su octavo álbum de estudio, «In Times New Roman…», lanzado en 2023, extendió la dirección sonora de sus dos discos anteriores, reafirmando la reputación de la banda por su incansable reinvención dentro de una identidad reconocible.
