Sobre o artista
King Crimson é uma banda britânica de rock progressivo formada em Londres em 1968, amplamente considerada uma das fundadoras do gênero. Seu álbum de estreia, «In the Court of the Crimson King» (1969), fundiu rock com influências de jazz e música clássica e é considerado um marco que ajudou a definir o rock progressivo, impulsionado ainda por sua participação como banda de abertura do The Rolling Stones no Hyde Park.
O guitarrista e compositor Robert Fripp tem sido o único membro constante ao longo das inúmeras formações da banda, conduzindo-a por épocas bem distintas: a atmosfera repleta de mellotron do período inicial, a agressividade improvisada da trilogia «Larks' Tongues in Aspic», «Starless and Bible Black» e «Red» em meados dos anos setenta, o som anguloso com tons de new wave da formação do início dos anos oitenta com Adrian Belew, e encarnações posteriores explorando texturas polirrítmicas e mais pesadas. Entre os membros notáveis ao longo das décadas estão Greg Lake, Bill Bruford, John Wetton, Tony Levin e Mel Collins.
Conhecida por reinventar constantemente seu som em vez de repetir fórmulas do passado, King Crimson influenciou uma vasta gama de artistas do rock, metal e música experimental, mantendo um público cult devotado, atraído por sua ambição musical incansável e virtuosismo técnico.
