Hank Williams Jr. é um cantor e compositor americano, filho da lenda do country Hank Williams. Começou a carreira interpretando as canções do pai ainda adolescente, mas após uma queda quase fatal durante uma escalada em Montana, reinventou seu som, misturando southern rock, blues e outlaw country em um estilo mais pesado, distinto da tradição honky-tonk da geração de seu pai.
Essa mudança impulsionou uma sequência de sucesso comercial do final dos anos 1970 até os anos 1980, com canções como «Family Tradition», «A Country Boy Can Survive», «All My Rowdy Friends (Have Settled Down)» e «Dinosaur» tornando-se clássicos do outlaw country com influência de rock sulista. Sua música explorava temas boêmios e da classe trabalhadora, identidade sulista e instrumentação de rock sobre composições country tradicionais, ajudando a ampliar o público do gênero entre ouvintes de rock.
