Bobby V

Bobby V, born Bobby Marcel Wilson, is an American R&B singer, songwriter and pianist who grew up in Atlanta after being born in Mississippi. Coming up in the mid-2000s wave of romantic, radio-friendly R&B, he signed to Ludacris's Disturbing tha Peace imprint through Island Def Jam and broke through with his 2005 debut album, led by the hit «Slow Down», which topped the R&B charts and crossed into the pop Top 10.

His sound blends smooth, falsetto-leaning vocals with polished, hook-driven production, drawing on the influence of Motown-era and 1980s-90s R&B acts like Marvin Gaye and Jodeci while fitting the mid-2000s urban radio landscape alongside contemporaries such as Chris Brown and Mario. Tracks like «Tell Me» and its remix featuring Lil Wayne showcased his knack for melodic hooks paired with guest verses from prominent rappers.

His 2007 follow-up album produced the cult favorite «Anonymous», cementing his reputation as a dependable hitmaker within R&B circles even when singles did not always top the charts. Over his career he has continued releasing music independently, remaining a recognizable name from the 2000s R&B era.
