3 Doors Down

3 Doors Down are an American rock band formed in Escatawpa, Mississippi in the mid-1990s, built around vocalist Brad Arnold. The group came up through the post-grunge wave of the late 1990s and early 2000s, a scene defined by heavy but melodic guitar rock aimed squarely at mainstream radio.

Their breakthrough came with the debut album The Better Life, powered by the singles «Kryptonite» and «Loser», which established their formula of anthemic choruses, arena-ready guitar riffs and Arnold's emotive, plainspoken vocals. Follow-up hits like «Here Without You» and «When I'm Gone» showed a softer, more balladic side and became some of the defining rock radio staples of the early 2000s, crossing over into pop audiences.

3 Doors Down remained a steady presence on rock radio through the 2000s and 2010s, known less for reinvention than for consistency — melodic post-grunge built for broad appeal rather than critical edge. The band drew some public attention for performing at a U.S. presidential inauguration in 2017. Brad Arnold, the band's longtime frontman, died in early 2026.
