¿De qué trata "Down to the Sea"?

«Down to the Sea» es el número de celebración inicial de la secuela directa a video de Disney «La Sirenita II: Regreso al Mar» (2000), interpretada por Jodi Benson retomando su papel de Ariel de la película original de 1989. La canción plantea la premisa de la película: la hija bebé de Ariel y el príncipe Eric, Melody, es bautizada en una ceremonia que mezcla el mundo humano y el de las sirenas, con criaturas marinas y súbditos sirenos que emergen para recibirla junto a la tripulación del barco. Regresan personajes como Grimsby y el cangrejo Sebastián, y los coros duales del número —uno cantado por los humanos «hacia el mar» y otro por el pueblo marino que sube «desde el mar»— reflejan musicalmente el tema de unir tierra y océano.
