Sobre el artista
Yes es una banda inglesa de rock progresivo formada en Londres en 1968 por el bajista Chris Squire y el cantante Jon Anderson. Junto a grupos como King Crimson, Genesis y Emerson, Lake & Palmer, se convirtieron en uno de los actos definitorios del rock progresivo de los años setenta, conocidos por composiciones extensas y de estructura intrincada, un virtuoso entrelazado instrumental y temas líricos místicos y cósmicos inspirados en la ciencia ficción y la filosofía oriental.
La era clásica de la banda contó con una formación cambiante pero influyente que incluyó al guitarrista Steve Howe, al teclista Rick Wakeman y al baterista Bill Bruford (luego reemplazado por Alan White), cuya combinación de talento dio forma a álbumes emblemáticos construidos en torno a suites extensas y compases cambiantes. Su arte de portada, creado en gran parte por Roger Dean, se volvió tan icónico como la propia música, definiendo una identidad visual para el género del rock progresivo.
En los años ochenta, Yes se reinventó con un sonido más orientado a la radio y basado en sintetizadores, logrando un gran éxito comercial con «Owner of a Lonely Heart», un número uno en Estados Unidos que introdujo a la banda a una nueva generación de oyentes. A lo largo de décadas y numerosos cambios de formación, Yes ha seguido siendo un referente del rock progresivo, celebrado por llevar al límite la estructura y la ambición técnica en la música rock.
