Montell Jordan

Montell Jordan is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer born in Los Angeles, California in 1968. He broke through in 1995 with the single «This Is How We Do It», a genre-defining new jack swing and R&B hit that became one of the most recognizable songs of its era and a defining moment for mid-90s R&B. The track's success established him as a major voice on Def Jam's Def Soul imprint, where he remained the label's primary male solo artist for several years.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, Jordan built a catalog blending smooth R&B vocals with hip-hop influenced production, delivering hits and fan favorites such as «Get It On Tonite», «Daddy's Home», «Let's Ride», and «Somethin' 4 da Honeyz». His style captured the sound of the era's crossover R&B, warm melodic hooks layered over funk and hip-hop grooves, appealing to both pop and urban radio audiences.
