Sobre el artista
Michael Jackson, nacido en Gary, Indiana, comenzó su carrera como niño artista junto a sus hermanos en los Jackson 5, grupo que Motown Records convirtió en estrellas a finales de los años sesenta. Como solista se ganó el título de Rey del Pop, redefiniendo lo que podía ser un artista pop gracias a su voz, su talento como compositor y sus icónicos movimientos de baile, entre ellos el moonwalk.
Su serie de álbumes con el productor Quincy Jones —Off the Wall, Thriller y Bad— transformó la música popular, con canciones como «Billie Jean», «Smooth Criminal» y «Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'» que fusionaban funk, R&B, rock y pop en un sonido que dominó la radio y, sobre todo, MTV, donde sus videoclips marcaron nuevos estándares para el formato como forma de arte.
