Sobre el artista
Eruption is a disco and soul vocal group formed in the mid-1970s, closely associated with the German producer Frank Farian, who was also behind acts like Boney M. The group's best-known lineup was fronted by Jamaican-born singer Precious Wilson, whose powerful lead vocals became the group's signature sound before she departed for a solo career.
Eruption reached international audiences with a cover of Ann Peebles' «I Can't Stand the Rain», which became a global disco-era hit, and with «One Way Ticket», a driving uptempo track that remains their most enduring song. Their music sat at the crossroads of disco, funk and soul, built on lush production, tight vocal harmonies and dancefloor-ready arrangements typical of the late-1970s European disco sound.
While the group's commercial peak was relatively brief, their singles have had a long afterlife through samples, covers and continued airplay on disco and retro-focused radio and playlists. «One Way Ticket» in particular has been reworked and referenced by other artists over the decades, keeping Eruption's name alive well beyond their original chart run.
