Sobre el artista
Depeche Mode es una banda inglesa formada en Basildon en 1980, considerada una de las más influyentes pioneras del synth-pop y el rock electrónico. Surgida de un dúo anterior de Vince Clarke y Andy Fletcher, la formación tomó su rumbo definitivo cuando Martin Gore se unió y Dave Gahan se convirtió en el vocalista principal, adoptando el nombre Depeche Mode a partir del título de una revista de moda francesa. Sus primeros éxitos, como «Just Can't Get Enough» y «Everything Counts», los consolidaron en las listas de éxitos de principios de los años 80, antes de que su sonido se oscureciera y madurara durante el resto de la década.
A mediados y finales de los 80, la banda desarrolló el sonido electrónico oscuro, texturizado y con tintes industriales que define su etapa clásica, presente en temas como «Strangelove», «Never Let Me Down Again», «Personal Jesus» y «Enjoy the Silence». Este periodo consolidó su reputación como uno de los actos artísticamente más relevantes de su época, combinando composiciones introspectivas y oscuras con una producción sintetizada innovadora; sus conciertos, incluido el célebre show de 1988 en el Pasadena Rose Bowl, se consideran hitos en la historia de la música electrónica.
Con más de una decena de álbumes de estudio, incluido el más reciente, Memento Mori (2023), Depeche Mode ha vendido decenas de millones de discos en todo el mundo y sigue siendo un referente del synth-pop, el rock alternativo y la música electrónica cercana al industrial, influyendo en generaciones de artistas posteriores.
