Yung Lean

Yung Lean, born Jonatan Håstad in Stockholm, Sweden, is a Swedish rapper and one of the central figures behind the Sad Boys collective, credited with popularizing what became known as cloud rap. His early tracks «Oreomilkshake» and «Ginseng Strip 2002» from the Lavender EP spread rapidly online and were initially dismissed by some as internet-meme novelty, though they are now widely recognized as an important entry point into hazy, atmospheric cloud rap production.

His breakthrough mixtape Unknown Death 2002 and the widely streamed single «Kyoto» established his hallmark sound: melancholic, dreamlike beats paired with deadpan, often surreal delivery. His debut album Unknown Memory shifted toward a more serious, introspective tone, moving away from the more absurdist elements of his earliest work while keeping the moody, cloud-laden production style intact.

Beyond his main body of work as Yung Lean, he has released more personal, experimental material under the name Jonatan Leandoer96 (formerly Jonatan Leandoer127), and performs as part of the punk project Död Mark alongside fellow Sad Boys member Gud. He has collaborated with artists including Bladee, Thaiboy Digital, Denzel Curry and BONES, cementing his role as a connector figure across underground rap and internet-native music scenes.
