Yo Gotti

Yo Gotti, born Mario Sentell Giden Mims on May 19, 1981, is an American rapper from the northern side of Memphis, Tennessee. He built his career from the ground up through the Southern mixtape circuit of the early 2000s, releasing a string of independent projects before signing major deals that expanded his reach. His debut album «From Da Dope Game 2 Da Rap Game» arrived in 2000, followed by «Self-Explanatory», «Life», «Back 2 da Basics» and later «Live from the Kitchen» and «I Am», each marking his steady climb from regional figure to national name.

Gotti's sound is rooted in Memphis street rap: gritty, direct storytelling delivered over hard-hitting Southern trap production, with a flow that favors clarity and repetition for maximum impact. This approach made hits like «Down in the DM» and its remix, «Rake It Up» and «Juice» into commercial successes that crossed over from street anthems to mainstream radio and club staples.
