Wretch 32

Wretch 32, born Jermaine Sinclaire Scott, is a rapper from Tottenham, North London, who rose from the UK grime and pirate-radio scene to become one of Britain's most respected conscious-lyric MCs. He started out with the North London crew Combination Chain Gang and later joined the supergroup The Movement alongside Ghetts, Scorcher, Mercston and Devlin, sharpening his craft on pirate station Heat FM and through prolific mixtapes.

His 2008 debut album Wretchrospective built a grassroots following, but it was his 2011 major-label album Black and White, featuring the chart-topping single «Don't Go» alongside «Traktor» and «Unorthodox», that pushed him into the mainstream, blending grime roots with pop and R&B sensibilities. His long-running «Fire in the Booth» freestyles for BBC Radio 1Xtra have become touchstones of UK rap, showcasing his dense wordplay and storytelling.

Throughout his career Wretch 32 has balanced commercial success with socially and personally reflective songwriting, tackling identity, family and everyday struggle, cementing his status as a bridge figure between grime's underground roots and the UK's wider urban pop mainstream.
