Westside Connection

Westside Connection was an American hip-hop supergroup formed in Los Angeles by three West Coast heavyweights: Ice Cube, WC, and Mack 10. United by their shared allegiance to the West Coast during the height of the East Coast–West Coast rivalry, the trio brought together their individual reputations as gangsta rap pioneers to create a defiantly regional statement of pride and defiance.

Their 1996 debut album, «Bow Down», reached number two on the Billboard 200 and went platinum, driven by tracks like the title single and «Gangsta Nation»-style anthems that celebrated West Coast identity. The group's sound combined hard-hitting production with pointed, confrontational lyricism, addressing rivalries within the industry as well as social and political themes.

They released a second album, «Terrorist Threats», in 2003, followed by a compilation, «The Best of Westside Connection», in 2007. Internal tension, particularly a rift between Ice Cube and Mack 10, led to the group's dissolution around 2005, but their catalog remains a landmark of 1990s West Coast rap and a touchstone for regional pride in hip-hop.
