Upchurch

Ryan Edward Upchurch, known simply as Upchurch, was born on May 24, 1991, in Cheatham County, Tennessee. He began his career on YouTube in 2014 with comedy skits and beat remixes before releasing his debut single, «Raise Hell and Eat Cornbread», the same year. Rather than pursuing a conventional route through the Nashville country establishment, he built an independent following directly online, releasing a large catalogue of albums and EPs that move fluidly between hip-hop, country and rock.

His music is grounded in rural Tennessee life, blending redneck and outlaw-country imagery with trap-influenced rap cadences and southern rock instrumentation, a genre-blending approach that has made him a distinctive figure in the DIY country-rap space. Songs such as «Holler Boys», «Rolling Stoned» and «Hillbilly» reflect recurring themes in his work: family, tattoos, marijuana use and pride in his rural upbringing.
