Ukendt Kunstner

Ukendt Kunstner (Danish for «Unknown Artist») is a Danish hip-hop and R&B duo formed by rapper Hans Philip and producer Jens Ole McCoy. Before adopting this name, the pair performed grime-inspired street rap under the name Skørmand, a period during which they connected with other figures on Copenhagen's urban scene who would later form the collective B.O.C., including Kesi, Noah Carter and Gilli.

As Ukendt Kunstner, the duo developed a distinctive, melancholic sound that blends synth-driven production with soft R&B textures, often described as dreamy and enigmatic. They drew attention with the double EP «Hælervarer A» and «Hælervarer B» in 2012, then achieved a genuine commercial breakthrough with their 2013 debut album «Neonlys», which captured the mood of Copenhagen nightlife on tracks such as «Fucking Nummer». Its follow-up, «Forbandede Ungdom» (2014), leaned toward more reflective, personal songwriting while keeping the group's signature nocturnal atmosphere.

Ukendt Kunstner is regarded as an influential act in the development of modern Danish urban music, helping bring a moody, R&B-inflected strain of hip-hop into the Danish mainstream and paving the way for the wider B.O.C.-affiliated scene that followed them.
