Tyga

Tyga, born Michael Ray Nguyen-Stevenson on November 19, 1989, is an American rapper who rose from the Los Angeles hip-hop scene of the late 2000s. He first drew attention with the single «Coconut Juice», featuring his cousin Travie McCoy, before signing to Cash Money/Young Money and releasing his major-label debut, Careless World: Rise of the Last King, in 2012. The album produced the breakout hit «Rack City», which established his signature style of bouncy, club-oriented trap production paired with brash, hedonistic lyricism.

Over the following years Tyga built a catalogue defined by radio-friendly singles such as «Faded», «Molly», «Hookah» and «Switch Lanes», the last two coming from his 2013 album Hotel California. His music leans heavily on West Coast rap traditions filtered through mainstream pop and R&B sensibilities, often built around big, catchy hooks rather than dense lyricism. He also runs his own label, Last Kings Records, giving him a hand in shaping artists beyond his own recordings.

After parting ways with Young Money in 2015, Tyga continued releasing music independently, maintaining a steady presence in pop-rap through collaborations and singles even as his commercial peak shifted earlier in his catalogue. His influence is most visible in the era of ringtone-rap and party anthems that dominated early-2010s hip-hop radio.
