Trick Daddy

Trick Daddy, born Maurice Samuel Young, is an American rapper from Liberty City, Miami, one of the defining voices of Miami's hip-hop scene since the late 1990s. He emerged as part of the Southern rap movement alongside labelmates and collaborators like Trina, delivering a gritty, street-oriented style rooted in the realities of his neighborhood. His breakthrough came with the 1998 album www.thug.com, and he went on to release a string of successful records through the 2000s.

His biggest commercial hit, «I'm a Thug», and the club anthem «Let's Go» (featuring Twista) helped bring Miami bass-influenced Southern rap to national attention. He is also closely associated with «Nann Nigga», an early collaboration with Trina that helped launch her career and became a defining record of the Miami sound. His albums Thugs Are Us and Thug Matrimony: Married to the Streets further cemented his reputation for raw lyricism paired with radio-friendly hooks.

Beyond music, Trick Daddy has worked in film and production, and he remains a foundational figure in Southern hip-hop, credited with helping put Miami on the national rap map alongside acts from his Slip-N-Slide Records circle.
