Trettmann

Trettmann is a German singer and rapper from Chemnitz (formerly Karl-Marx-Stadt), a key figure in German-language hip-hop and reggae-influenced pop. He began his career in the dancehall and reggae scene with a distinctive Saxon accent, later moving toward rap and R&B-tinged pop, and became widely known through his collaboration with the Berlin production team KitschKrieg starting around 2015.

His sound mixes soulful, laid-back vocal melodies with modern trap and boom-bap-adjacent production, giving songs like «Grauer Beton», «Knöcheltief» and «GottSeiDank» an introspective, melancholic edge that stands apart from more aggressive strands of German rap. His lyrics often draw on his working-class East German upbringing and personal reflection rather than braggadocio.

Trettmann's partnership with KitschKrieg helped define a melodic, atmospheric sound within German hip-hop in the late 2010s, and tracks such as «Billie Holiday» and «New York» cemented his reputation as one of the genre's more soulful and idiosyncratic voices.
