Travie McCoy

Travie McCoy is an American singer and rapper best known as the frontman of the alternative hip-hop band Gym Class Heroes, which he formed with childhood friend Matt McGinley. Raised in upstate New York and immersed in the punk rock scene as a teenager, McCoy brought a rock and skate-culture sensibility to hip-hop that helped Gym Class Heroes stand out in the mid-2000s, with breakthrough hits like «Cupid's Chokehold» and «Stereo Hearts».

While the band took a hiatus, McCoy launched a solo career, releasing his debut album Lazarus in 2010. Its lead single, «Billionaire», featuring Bruno Mars, became a massive crossover hit, reaching the upper tier of the Billboard Hot 100 and earning multi-platinum certification. The song's breezy, feel-good production and McCoy's laid-back, melodic rap delivery marked a shift toward a more pop-friendly sound than his work with Gym Class Heroes.

McCoy signed to Nappy Boy Entertainment, the label run by T-Pain, reflecting his connections within the pop-rap and R&B world.
