Timal

Timal is a French rapper born in Saint-Denis and raised in Champs-sur-Marne, part of the Paris region's hip-hop scene. He built his reputation through a series of freestyles known as the «Rapports» and other freestyle releases, which circulated widely online and established him as a technically sharp rapper before he released a full-length project.

His debut album Trop chaud, released in 2018 as a double disc combining new material with the freestyles that made his name, was certified platinum, confirming his popularity within French rap. He followed it with Caliente in 2020, continuing to build a catalogue defined by melodic hooks, Afro-Caribbean and Latin-tinged rhythms, and smooth, radio-friendly rap and R&B textures.

Timal's music sits within the wave of contemporary French rap that blends street rap roots with more commercial, dancefloor-oriented sounds, and his freestyle series remains a reference point for how he built his audience before mainstream success.
