About the artist

The Shin Sekaï is a French rap duo from the 9th arrondissement of Paris, formed by rappers Dadju and Abou Tall. Both artists had pursued solo paths before joining forces, and the duo's name — a play on «shin sekai», meaning new world in Japanese — reflected their ambition to carve out a fresh space within French rap and R&B.

The group released its debut mixtape, The Shin Sekaï, Vol. 1, in early 2013, propelled by the track «Je reviendrai». Their profile rose further after collaborating with Gims, Dadju's older brother, and through the release of a second mixtape in January 2014 featuring singles such as «Rêver». Their smooth, melodic take on rap and R&B, marked by catchy hooks and emotionally direct lyrics, earned them recognition including a Trace Urban Music Award for Best Group in 2014.

In 2016 the duo released their debut studio album, Indéfini, an eighteen-track project featuring guest appearances from artists including Black M, Soprano, Gims, and Gradur. Known for tracks like «Aime-moi demain», «Le nouveau monde», and «Pour toi», The Shin Sekaï helped shape the melodic, R&B-inflected strand of French urban music before Dadju went on to a prominent solo career.
